Using a level, attach the M5000 to the foundation of the house using the 4 provided sleeve anchors.

Step 4

Step 5

Install 3” deck screws to the support braces on the sides of the M5000 bracket and 2—6” lag bolts at the top of the post to secure the post to the ledger board, you’re finished!!

Step 6

If your install of the M5000 requires you to install it below grade level, install 3/4” crush gravel around the bottom of the M5000 for water drainage.

Installation Methods

There are 2 methods to use the M5000 properly. Please see the 2 different methods for using the M5000 below

Method #1: Bolting through the Veneer and rim joist of the house and into the foundation

Using a double 10” ledger, use a carriage bolt and go through the veneer and rim joist of the house. Use a washer and nut on the inside of the house to fasten the ledger board. Use sleeve anchors to bolt the M5000 to the foundation. Once everything is bolted properly and attached to one another, the bolts that are holding the ledger board in place will act as the lateral support. The M5000 will act at the shear weight supporter.

Method #2: Bolting to the foundation only and use our new ML45 Lateral Support brackets.

Use 6” sleeve anchors to attached the M5000 to the foundation of the house. Install front and side lateral supports on the front beam/post assembly. (Please make sure you follow the correct building code requirements when installing our lateral supports.)

Composite Decks

  • Dead Load = Approx. 60 lbs per sq/ft
  • Live Load = Approx. 240 lbs per sq/ft
